OKFB Offers Tips to Prepare for American Heart Month

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, heart disease is the No. 1 leading cause of death in Oklahoma

OKLAHOMA – The CDC reports that since 2014, heart disease has been a top leading cause of death in Oklahoma. This American Heart Month is a great time to focus on heart health and begin preparing for the future. Outside of following a doctor’s diet and exercise recommendations, Oklahoma Farm Bureau (OKFB) Insurance recommends Oklahomans obtain life insurance to give them some peace of mind.

“Having life insurance is just as important as having auto and home insurance,” said Gary Buckner, executive vice president and general manager of Oklahoma Farm Bureau Insurance. “Getting life insurance as soon as possible can be incredibly beneficial for you and your loved ones in the case of anything unexpected. It’s best to be prepared to leave your loved ones in the best position possible.”

The 2020 Insurance Barometer study claims, 40% of people that have life insurance wish they had purchased it earlier in life. To help, OKFB Insurance offers a few tips to prepare for the future during this American Heart Month:

Use a Life Insurance Calculator. A life insurance calculator can help you figure out exactly how much life insurance coverage you may need. Most providers offer this calculator as a tool for their customers; you can use ours life insurance calculator to see what may work best for you and your lifestyle.

Learn Lines of Life Insurance. There are many types of life insurance from term life, universal life, to whole life insurance. However, you do not have to figure out on your own which one you may need. Contact your local OKFB agent to talk through which option will be best for you.

Be Aware of Critical Life Changes. Major life events like marriage, having children and even paying off your mortgage could impact life insurance needs and premiums. Spend some time talking with your insurance agent to learn what factors play a role in your life insurance policy.

This American Heart Month is a great opportunity to begin looking into life insurance to see what options will be the most beneficial for you. Life insurance can help ensure that your loved ones are cared for in the future.
